Yes…waiting that’s what our little Cooper has been doing, waiting for his big brother Riley. I see him wondering where the big guy is. It is heartbreaking to see him go out first thing in the morning and sit or lay on the patio waiting for his brother to finish his breakfast….but Riley isn’t eating his breakfast, he isn’t coming out, he isn’t home anymore and I don’t know how you tell a dog that his alpha brother is no longer part of his world.
Friendship is important, even in the doggie world!
This is harder than I thought it would ever be.
I’ll be back next week I promise.
I’ll be back with delicious recipes.
I’ll be back with a smile.
I’ll be back.
Riley won’t and we are all wondering and waiting…..
Sometime last year I went for a run and found a wrench on the ground. I shared my thoughts with you in this post (Found). A few days ago I went for a run and found this:
a perfectly beautiful Lacrosse ball
I know everything happens for a reason. I know things come full circle (yup…it’s a ball!). I know that what you put out there comes back to you. Isn’t it great that in an unplanned moment you are reminded that your heart is full?
The past 1 1/2 week has been full of emotions: our oldest got hurt playing Lacrosse, then she had a minor car accident, then our youngest learned a “protect your phone” lesson the hard way. My parents came and went, now I won’t see them until fall. Our older dog Riley is….well he is old, he is deaf, he is trying so hard to keep up, and it is part of life.
So when I look at this silly Lacrosse ball I need to remind myself about my wonderful Grandpa, the original finder of all things. A man with a lot of health problems yet who smiled and laughed (often at himself) everyday of his life.
Yes, today it is that simple. Smile, laugh, and choose to be HAPPY!
I know. I definitely express my dislike of cold weather on a regular basis. It’s getting old. I just can’t help myself. I need sunshine!
How can we go from this:
Mr Man and I last Thursday night at the FDIC 5K run ❤
Snow……SNOW IN APRIL this past Tuesday! Seriously?!!!!
Let me re-state my usual plea:
Dear Mother Nature,
We are not always the best citizens of our lovely earth. We apologize. This unpleasant and unseasonal weather is somewhat cruel and hurtful. We can be good citizens. Please pretty please give us some signs of Spring….that is all. We will treat it well.
Your faithful and loving friend,
Peace out and have a Fantastic Friday what ever the weather may be in your corner of the world!
HA……don’t run with scissors! It shouldn’t be legal for me to operate scissors!
Last week I poked myself in the eye with scissors.
Yup….I can’t even make that stuff up!
Suffice to say I am a giant moron!
Long story Long (HA!) I decided it would be a swell idea to cut my own hair (I know….I know….problem #1) I was “carefully” trying to simply trim my hair. Everything was going along fine (it’s all in how you see it I guess) and then I thought (other problem…I shouldn’t be allowed to think) I should put my head upside down (WHAT THE HECK!) and start trimming this way. Trim a little here, trim a little there and wham bam thank you ma’am stab myself right into my left eye. LUCKILY I didn’t do any permanent damage. But it brought me to my knees and I almost vomited (sorry TMI). The shock of the pain was so sudden and excruciating. I got light-headed and wanted to scream for my life.
After a few tears….only from my right eye (hahaha), I was able to gather my thoughts and stand up. Guess what I decided would be an awesome idea?
Keep on trimming my hair….
If you need me, I might at this point check myself into a mental ward.
On another note….remember my New Year’s Resolution to sew more: Reconnecting
yup I made that dress!!!!! So proud of myself!
Note: please be kind…I am not a model and this was painful! This dress is made with 4 old tees!!!! Isn’t that cool?
So sorry. I am certain you guys were all tore up about it!
To brighten this suck it fabulous winter, here is a little ray of sunshine from my little Meyer Lemon Tree. This little tree has been surviving thriving for the past 5 years. THIS is the first and so far only fruit that it has given us. Matt says I baby this tree. Yup, he is correct. This tree definitely needs love and babying. Poor little guy wishes he was in hot Cali or Florida….not Alaska…ummmm I mean Indiana!
lovely isn’t it? And yes there is a “potentially” perfectly delicious other lemon…but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet!
With all the “reality” T.V. shows we are bombarded blessed with on a daily basis it is difficult to think positive thoughts about girls night out. But in fact, the idea stems from a simple truth: you need girls time when you are a mom, a wife, a daughter and even a sister. You need to connect or re-connect with people who feel your pain….hmmm I mean understand your daily life!
Cheers to you!
I met up with my friends the other night and it was just the remedy I needed to get through this lovely cold spell we have been dealing with. A glass of wine (or two) and some delicious duck tacos, it was a good evening with two of my favorite ladies!
Take a moment to enjoy your friends.
Peace and GNO,
note: the pic wasn’t taken the other night (I was enjoying my friends’ company therefore NOT taking pictures!) This was from a lovely date I had with my hubby in Michigan last fall 🙂
I just don’t like the music. Never have and probably never will. My peeps like to torture me with this. Fine. We went to a lovely Christmas concert. I went because I love my people. Turns out Trace Adkins made a Christmas album with a Celtic flair to it. I LOVE CELTIC MUSIC….. LOVE LOVE LOVE….
First let me apologize for my lack of recipes and overall contact this past week. I have to admit: I am in over my head with the holiday season/parties/school/kids events….and on and on.
Between Holiday Parties that we are attending and parties I have nicely offered to make more complicated dishes that I should have, between the kids sports, tutoring, finals, student gov’t, work, etc….well I can’t see straight!
BUT….I have my Christmas Village. Every year, I make my little village (or willage as I like to call it) Every now and then my peeps will find me in the dining room looking at it. Yup, just standing there enjoying my little willage! I try to make it different every year. I love it.
The Willage 🙂
see the handsome firefighter?
the lovely Church…a little bit higher than the others!
grocery store (from Florida of course!) and even a “watering hole”…it is MY village afterall 😉
one last overall look!
Hope to be back on track with new recipes new week!
